Stafford Air & Space Museum
If you're ever in Weatherford, Oklahoma (?!), you'll want to check out the General Thomas P. Stafford Air & Space Museum. Newly expanded, the museum centers on (obviously) astronaut Stafford who flew on Gemini 6, Gemini 9, Apollo 10 and the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP).
Exhibits include Stafford's space suit helmet (I'm trying to find out which one...looks like a Gemini), some huge rocket engines, and the actual misson control panel that let NASA know what exploded on Apollo 13.
But, wait! There's more!
Actual rocket engine from Titan - first and second stages. Actual Saturn V engines, from all three stages; and Alexi Leonov's actual flown spacesuit from the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project...the suit he was wearing when he shook General Stafford's hand in orbit.
You might want to call first: (580) 772-5871.
